Visit of the Chinese Minister-Counsellor
On May 10, the Chinese Minister-Counsellor of the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Yin Jun, and his first secretary, Prof. Li Guoqiang, visited KIT.
After a short opening by Dr. Ing. Matthias Kautt from Projektträger Karlsruhe and Dr. Klaus Rümmele from KIT International Affairs, the activities of KIT in China were presented. Afterwards, senior engineer Benedikt Klee spoke about the wbk Institute for Production Technology and its activities in China. Constantin Mandel did the same for the Institute for Product Development (IPEK). Afterwards, they jointly presented the I4TP project. After lunch, visits were made to the institutes wbk and IPEK. Research projects and laboratories were visited.
KIT maintains a strategic partnership with four well-known Chinese universities. In particular, 20 years of cooperation with Tongji University can soon be celebrated. In the I4TP project of BMBF, KIT and its partners are developing a German-Chinese factory automation platform for the quick and easy design and commissioning of turnkey production systems. In this project, the Chinese and German sides will be represented by five professors each with expertise in engineering from KIT and Tongji University and three companies.
