Asia is the most important continent outside Europe for KIT in terms of international cooperation. Of the almost 6,000 international students at KIT, around 36% come from an Asian country; almost a quarter of its international researchers are from this region.

KIT maintains strategic partnerships with universities in China and as part of the German-Japanese HeKKSaGOn alliance.
