Science Slam Workshop with Dr. Christian Scharun

April 7 and 11, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM each day.

Why Science Slam Training is a Game-Changer for Ph.D. Students and Post-Docs

As a researcher, mastering the art of condensing complex ideas into clear, engaging messages is a skill that pays off far beyond the stage. Whether you're presenting at conferences, applying for grants, pitching ideas to industry leaders, or shaping policy discussions, the ability to communicate key insights concisely is essential.

Science Slam training helps you sharpen this skill by challenging you to break down your research into its core message—something that resonates with both experts and non-experts alike. The experience not only improves your public speaking but also enhances your ability to write compelling abstracts, craft persuasive proposals, and convey your work’s impact in academia, industry, and politics.

In short: If you can explain it simply, you can make it matter—no matter where your career takes you!

Scope:

This workshop is all about mastering the art of the Science Slam! Participants will kick things off by learning how to make their research accessible to a science-curious but non-expert audience. By analyzing best-practice examples, they’ll discover how to tailor their presentations to captivate a Science Slam crowd.

Through hands-on exercises, they’ll have the chance to develop their unique Science Slam style and refine their talks with valuable feedback from trainers and peers.
