Strategic partnership with Tongji University
Tongji University in Shanghai and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) have been partners since 1999.
Today, the cooperation extends across all five departments of KIT and almost all eleven KIT faculties. Scientists from both universities research and teach together on topics in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, batteries of the future, mathematics, economics, chemical processes in plastics recycling and German studies.
The strategic partnership includes a double master's program in mechanical engineering, several student exchange programs at university level and at KIT faculty level as well as the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center AMTC, a joint research infrastructure for researching next-generation production technologies.
Since 2023, both universities have also been working together in the Sino-German Center for Environment at Tongji University.
