The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Tongji University celebrated 25 years of partnership with a two-day event in Karlsruhe
On November 5, 2024, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Tongji University celebrated 25 years of partnership with a two-day event in Karlsruhe. Professor Dr. Jan S. Hesthaven, President of KIT, and Professsor Dr. Fang Shouen, Chairman of the Univeristy Council of Tongji University opened the ceremony renewing their cooperation agreement and extending it to a strategic partnership.
On the second day, the Tongji delegation toured several of KIT’s cutting-edge research facilities. At the forschungsfabrik Karlsruhe, the guests explored innovative solutions focused on efficient and smart manufacturing processes for batteries, fuel cells, and electric motors. Dr. Ralf Stopp guided the delegation through the SHARE Schaeffler Hub, providing insights into the structure of an industry-university collaborative research hub. At the KIT HealthTech Center, Professor Ute Schepers showcased groundbreaking advancements, including 3D-printed biomaterials for heart valves and self-driven autonomous laboratories. The visit concluded with two site visits to the KIT Climate and Environment Center and selected institutes of environmental sciences, including the Institute for Water and Environment and the Institute of Soil Mechanics and Rock Mechanics.
This event highlighted the enduring partnership between KIT and Tongji University and their commitment to driving impactful innovation and fostering collaborative excellence in education and technology development.
