A representative of KIT visits National Polytechnic University of Armenia (NPUA) in Yerevan

The National Polytechnic University of Armenia (NPUA) in Yerevan is one of the leading technical universities in Armenia. In July 2023, the Rector of NPUA led a delegation to explore cooperation potentials, establishing contacts with researchers from KIT who are currently developing research in areas such as sustainable resource utilization, energy systems, and applied geosciences. In April 2024, Elena Pfeifer, Regional Officer for Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus at KIT, visited NPUA as part of a reciprocal visit. The aim of the visit was to deepen relationships and explore new opportunities for joint initiatives between the two institutions.

The day began with a welcome speech by Dr. Sargis Asatryants, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Reforms of NPUA. Elena Pfeifer provided a brief overview of KIT and its research topics, along with an introduction to international funding opportunities. Representatives from selected faculties at NPUA discussed cooperation possibilities, followed by presentations on the university's scientific activities. After a networking coffee break, Ani Mamikonyan, Head of the Department of Grant Programs and Fundraising, presented further cooperation opportunities.

The visit concluded with a tour of NPUA's selected teaching and research facilities, including the Armenian National Engineering Laboratories (ANEL), the Aerial Robotics Laboratory, the “Schneider Electrician-Tashir-ENA-HAPH” Center of Excellence, as well as the Design and Fine Arts Chair. The successful visit strengthened the foundation for future partnerships.
