Collaboration of the Helmholtz Association with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) 2025

The Helmholtz Association calls for applications for mobility grants for research stays at the Institute of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) to initiate or expand cooperation between Helmholtz Centers and institutions in China in the fields of energy, climate, health and large-scale equipment / research infrastructures.

Both existing and potential new partnerships between Helmholtz centers and CAS institutes are addressed.

The aim of this measure is to intensify the exchange with selected CAS institutes and to increase the Helmholtz Association's expertise in China.

 Who can submit an application?

-  Researchers of KIT submit their application by February 24, 2025 to Business Unit International Affairs via e-mail to Oliver Kaas

 

 What is funded?

1. PIFI program (President's International Fellowship Initiative):

- Ten mobility fellowships for early-career researchers and established researchers

- Flexible duration of stay of up to nine months at a CAS institute in China (IMPORTANT: Stays must begin in 2025, but can extend beyond that)

- CAS will cover all accommodation costs of the stay

2. Mobility Scholarships for Doctoral Randidates:

- Ten mobility scholarships for doctoral researchers

- Stays of up to six months at a CAS institute in China

- Accommodation Costs in the amount of RMB 10,000 per month (approx. EUR 1350), including travel costs, are covered by the respective CAS host institute

 

 Selection of Candidates for the Two personal Mobility Scholarship Programs:

IMPORTANT: It is requested to coordinate the project with the management of the respective institute management before applying.

KIT researchers are requested to submit the following application documents:

- CV and list of publications of the candidate

- Application letter, including motivation and details on the planned duration and objectives of the stay (max. one page)

- Support or confirmation by the CAS institute*

*If there is not yet any suitable bilateral cooperation project at KIT, the Helmholtz head office in Berlin will be happy to find a suitable CAS host institute.
