What do I have to do?
In most cities with good universities it is difficult to find accommodation. This is also the case in Karlsruhe. So please start looking for an accommodation early as possible. You can get help in Karlsruhe at the Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe. They also have a housing scout who can assist you. It is easier to find an accommodation outside Karlsruhe. Fortunately, Karlsruhe has a very good transportation system and you can quickly get to KIT by bus or streetcar even from further away. The Deutschlandticket lets you travel anywhere in Germany on most regional and local trains. Students can order the ticket at KVV. You can find further information on this page. Unforztunately, it will no longer be financially supported from April and will then cost as much as the normal D-ticket. The D-ticket JugendBW is available for students under the age of 27 years. For more information look here.
If you have not yet found a room, reserve a room at a youth hostel or hostel.
You should be careful when renting an apartment because there are people who take advantage of the housing shortage. It is often a similar approach to fraud. The police provide important information on this topic.
Where and when should I do this?
From home and/or after arrival in Karlsruhe
