Visit of the President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University SJTU

On June 7, 2024, the President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University SJTU, Professor DING Kuiling, and his delegation visited KIT.

Purpose of the President's visit to SJTU was not only to get to know KIT but also to explore new cooperation potentials. Both partners see many possibilities, especially in the fields of energy research and environmental sciences.

In addition to visiting the IPEK Institute of Product Engineering, the delegation visited the KIT Energy Center and the 'Power-to-X' and 'Grid Technology and System Integration' areas of the KIT Energy Lab 2.0 at Campus North, as well as the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology ICT in Pfinztal.

There have been close ties between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the IPEK Institute of Product Engineering at KIT since 2009, such as the joint GEARE program (Global Engineering Alliance for Research and Education). Additionally, numerous research collaborations, summer schools, workshops, and student exchanges exist in the areas of computer science, economics and society, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, as well as physics and mathematics.

With around 54,000 students, Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of China's leading universities, particularly in engineering and natural sciences.
